There is a lot going on in Katy Perry’s latest poptastic music video for This Is How We Do.
The 29-year-old’s kaleidoscopic offering, released on Thursday, is a feast for the eyes featuring twerking ice-cream treats, Pee-wee Herman backing dancers and a pepperoni pizza-patterned swimsuit.
And the raven haired beauty doesn’t disappoint in a variety of outrageous outfits and ever-changing kitsch and colourful backdrops.
Before the pop-art craziness gets going the California Gurls star is seen in a sunshine yellow shirt dress as she poses in a picture frame on an art gallery wall.
The camera zooms through the wall and into her world as she is seen surrounded by her Pee-wee Herman backing dancers.
She then heads for a game of ping-pong in a sporty blue outfit and matching wig before grabbing an ice lolly from a vintage ice-cream truck joined by two scantily clad female dancers.
Reclining on a sun lounger the Roar diva is then seen in her pizza-patterned swimsuit and matching pizza slice earrings.
Moving through multiple frames which explode in vibrant colour and choreographed routines, Katy is seen at one point in a dress similar to the Yves Saint Laurent mondrian dress camouflaged against a wall with the same Piet Mondrian style.
In the visual creation, which appears to be an ode to the live-for-the-moment youth of today, Katy is seen visiting a nail salon, grabbing some tacos and attempting to sing like Mariah Carey at a karaoke bar in a multitude of colourful outfits.
And the junk food theme remains throughout the rest of the three and a half minute clip with the animated ice creams, watermelon slice and pizza dancing along to the catchy tune.
Along with the hook ‘It’s no big deal’ Katy also pays respect to all her young party-loving fans as she belts out the lines: ‘This goes out to the ladies at breakfast… in last night’s dress.
‘This goes out to all you kids that still have your cars at the club valet… and it’s Tuesday’ and finally says: ‘Shout out to all you kids buying bottle service with your rent money! Respect!’
Katy teased her fans all week with glimpses of the clip on her Instagram. On Thursday the proud star tweeted a link to the new video and captioned lyrics from the tune: ‘#THISISHOWWEDO CHILLIN LAID BACK, STRAIGHT STUNTIN’ YEAH WE DO IT LIKE DAT’
This Is How We Do is a single from her fourth studio album Prism and is the fifth song to be released from the LP.
Her Prismatic World Tour kicked off in the UK in May, where she performed 17 dates up and down the country.
The American leg of the tour started last month in North Carolina; she did one performance in New York earlier this month in NYC’s Madison Square Garden.
