KATY Perry went back to her roots as she arrived to film American Idol with her trademark brunette tresses.
The pop superstar ditched her platinum blonde crop in favour of a long dark hairstyle — which reminded fans of when she first shot to fame with singles I Kissed a Girl and Hot N Cold.
The singer has rocked short blonde hair since the release of her last album Witness.
Katy posted a rare selfie of her new style to Twitter, with the caption “Are you watching?! #americanidol” — and her followers were loving the throwback.
One commented: “FINALLY THE BRUNETTE GIRL IS BACK!”

The pair looked happy to be in each other’s company and were both dressed smartly in black.
